      Patients with long-standing chronic heart failure (HF) are at increased risk of death and hospitalization compared to patients who have been more recently diagnosed.

      Hospitalization for recently diagnosed versus worsening chronic heart failure: from the ASCEND-HF trial.
      However, it remains unclear whether the overall clinical trajectory and in-hospital decongestion during hospitalization differs between patients with recently diagnosed vs worsening chronic HF (WCHF). We conducted a pooled, patient-level analysis of 3 HF clinical trials to characterize in-hospital decongestion and postdischarge outcomes among patients with recently diagnosed vs WCHF.
